Calculator methodology and editorial standards

Our purpose

GharNaksa calculators are early planning and record-checking tools. They turn dimensions, rates and assumptions supplied by the user into transparent arithmetic. They are not quotations, structural designs, municipal approvals, surveys, bills of quantities or professional certifications.

How calculator results are produced

• Inputs remain visible so users can replace examples with current project information.
• Formulas use standard unit conversions and common preliminary estimating relationships described inside the related guide.
• Contingency, wastage, fees and other allowances are shown separately rather than hidden in one total.
• Results are rounded for planning and should be checked against drawings, specifications, measured work and supplier quotations.

Exchange-rate methodology

Currency tools request reference buying rates from Nepal Rastra Bank and pivot conversions through NPR. When the feed is unavailable, the interface labels the result as a fallback estimate. A reference rate is not a bank or remittance quotation; providers may apply customer rates, spreads, fees, taxes and limits.

Construction cost and country pages

Country cost bands are indicative planning baselines, not live market prices. Location, site access, ground conditions, structure, labor market, specification, professional fees, approvals, taxes and procurement conditions can change a real quotation materially. Users should replace baseline rates with recent local evidence before making a commitment.

Embodied-carbon estimates

Carbon tools use indicative cradle-to-gate material factors informed by the University of Bath Inventory of Carbon and Energy research. They are awareness tools, not verified life-cycle assessments. Product declarations, recycled content, manufacturing energy and transport can change actual results.

Editorial process

• Each calculator is paired with a guide explaining inputs, assumptions and practical limitations.
• Internal links are selected to help users move from estimation to procurement, contracts, payments and site records.
• High-risk decisions are explicitly referred to an appropriate engineer, architect, quantity surveyor, municipality or other qualified professional.
• Material changes receive an updated date; deployment alone does not reset sitemap modification dates.
• We do not publish invented professional credentials, testimonials, prices or regulatory claims.
