House plumbing layout with rooftop tank, risers, water points and sanitary fixtures

House plumbing cost in Nepal is two jobs glued together: concealed pipes you will never see, and sanitary ware you will see every morning. Contractors like one lump. You should not. A missing hot line or an undersized soil stack is much more expensive to fix after tiles than a nicer mixer bought later.

Use the plumbing & sanitary cost calculator to price water points, drainage points, riser and main lengths, tank connections and fixtures with editable Nepal rates. Size storage with the water tank calculator. If you are off-sewer, size the septic tank. Wet-room finishes: bathroom renovation and waterproofing.

First-fix: the hidden network

  • Water points — basin, shower, kitchen sink, washing, geyser, garden, WC cistern. Hot and cold count as two if both are piped.
  • Drainage points — floor traps, WC soil, kitchen gully, washing machine standpipe, overflow.
  • Risers and mains — vertical metres and the run from tank/pump to the farthest wing. Long bungalows starve the last shower if the main is skinny.
  • Tank connections — inlet, outlet, overflow, washout; see tank sizing.
  • Valves — isolation per bathroom and a house main. Saving on valves is how one leak shuts the whole building.

Second-fix: fixtures and CP fittings

WC, basin, shower, mixer, angle valves, bottle traps and kitchen sink sit on a different quality ladder than the pipe. Basic local, mid branded, and imported packages can triple this line without changing the first-fix cost much. Keep fixtures as their own package in the calculator so a fancy kitchen tap cannot hide a missing soil vent.

What to put on the plumber’s paper

  1. 1Pipe material and brand for hot, cold and drainage (CPVC, PPR, UPVC soil).
  2. 2Point schedule room by room—not “whole house plumbing.”
  3. 3Who supplies fixtures, geysers and the pump.
  4. 4Pressure test, slope of waste lines, and venting.
  5. 5Coordination with electrical for geyser and pump circuits, and with waterproofing for sleeves.

NRN owners should insist on first-fix photos (chases, joints, tank room) in GharNaksa before putty. You cannot audit a pipe that has already disappeared. Pair the quote with the contractor quote checker.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers

How do I estimate house plumbing cost in Nepal?

Count hot and cold water points, drainage points, measure riser and main lengths, add tank and pump connections, then add sanitary fixtures as a separate package. First-fix (concealed pipes) and second-fix (taps, WC, basin) should never be one lump number.

Is CPVC or PPR better for a Nepal house?

Both are used. CPVC is common for hot-and-cold concealed lines; PPR fusion joints are popular on mains and exposed runs. Match pipe to water temperature, pressure and the plumber who will actually weld or solvent-weld it. Mixing random leftover brands on one riser is how joints fail.

Should sanitary ware be in the plumber’s quote?

Only if you want them to supply it. Many owners buy WC, basin and CP fittings themselves and pay the plumber to install. Either model is fine—write it down so “plumbing complete” cannot mean pipes without a single tap.
